Privacy policy
What we collect, why, who we share it with and how to exercise your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR.
Last updated: 31 October 2026
This policy explains how Manual do Couro (manualdocouro.com) handles the personal data of visitors, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, for visitors in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR. It applies to every edition of the site.
Who is responsible
The controller of your data is Manual do Couro. For anything related to privacy and data protection, contact us at contato@manualdocouro.com.br.
What data we process
- Browsing data collected by third parties: the site shows Google AdSense ads. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser identifiers, pages visited and interactions with ads.
- Server logs: like any website, our hosting server automatically logs technical data such as your IP address, the date and time of your visit and your browser type, for security and to keep the site running.
- Data you send us: if you email us, we use your address and the content of your message to reply.
- Preferences saved on your device: your light or dark theme, language, cookie choice and the checklists you tick are stored only in your browser's local storage and are never sent to us.
Manual do Couro does not require registration, has no data collection forms and does not sell personal data.
Why we use data, and on what legal basis
- Personalised advertising: based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
- Non-personalised advertising, security and running the site: based on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site secure and free to read.
- Replying to messages: based on your request and our legitimate interest in answering it.
You can withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of every page.
Google advertising
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's ad settings or, for some third-party vendors, at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
When you choose "Essential only" in our cookie notice, we ask Google to show non-personalised ads only.
Sharing and international transfers
Browsing data linked to advertising is processed by Google and its advertising partners, who may store it on servers outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on the safeguards provided by data protection law, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider. We do not share data with anyone else unless required by law.
How long we keep data
Emails are kept for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of corrections. Server logs follow the retention periods of our host and the applicable law. Third-party cookies have lifetimes set by the companies that use them. Preferences saved in your browser stay there until you delete them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, you have the right to ask for access to your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing and to receive it in a portable format, to object to processing based on legitimate interests and to withdraw your consent at any time. Just write to contato@manualdocouro.com.br. You can also complain to your data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EU, the supervisory authority of the country where you live.
Children
Manual do Couro is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and does not store personal data in a database of its own. Even so, no system on the internet is completely immune to incidents; if one occurs, we will act in line with data protection law.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or to the law. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page. For more detail on cookies, see our cookie policy.
